What Kind of gear do i need for the MSF course in Indiana?

I have heard that abate of indiana provides helmets, but do they have visors or would i need to bring goggles if i plan to use their loner helmets?

Long Pants? Would jeans be acceptable?

Long Sleeves? for my shirt, how about a long sleeve zip up cotton hoodie? or does it have to be a leather jacket?

For boots, could i just get work boots from walmart or something so long as they cover my ankle or are there specific motorcycle boots i have to wear?

gloves, i have a leather pair so i assume that works..

don't think i'm missing anything else but let me know if i am.

-thanks!

Go to http://msf-usa.org and it will tell you. ALL MSF courses require the same:

Pants (you will need to wear long pants made from a strong, abrasion- resistant material such as denim jeans or leather.--
NO BAGGY or loose-fitting pants will be allowed)

Long-Sleeve Shirt or Jacket

Boots (You will need to wear
"over-the-ankle" boots with a sturdy heel with non-slip soles--No high heeled boots will be allowed)

Gloves (Full fingered gloves--if you do NOT have a pair, the course will have some available, usually in a leather type)

Helemt (Must be FULL FACE, 3/4, or FLIP-UP, no 1/2's or caps--If you do not have a helemt, the course usually offers either full face or 3/4)

Eyewear (For training/course use only, sungless and perscription glasses are allowed--if you do not have any eyewear, the course will provide you with protective eyewear in the form of either clear goggles or clear safety glasses)

Motorcycle (ALL BRC provide a motorcycle, usually between 125cc and 250cc--If you wish to use your personal motorcycle, you must arrange it with the course instructor (more than likely will be denied for a BRC). If you are taking a ARC (Advanced Rider Course), you MUST provide your own motorcycle)

Your jeans will work, as long as they are not baggy or tooo long. If it is going to be warm out, I would say go to Wal-Mart and find a cheap long-sleeve cotton T-shirt, but also bring the hoodie with you incase if its cool or rains. The WalMart work books are fine. As long as they cover your ankles, they will be ok. Your leather gloves will work as long as they are full fingered. THose are the type the course would provide you with.

ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT!!! BRING SNACKS AND DRINKS!!! The course ALWAYS has a water source there. Seeing how you will be in the sun about all day, bring something to drink, like Gatorade or Powerade, unless water works for you. You need to keep hydrated. Also, some granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, fruit, etc. is a great idea. It will keep your blood sugar up and helps against the sun. You won't feel so drained and will perform a lot better.

Hope this information helps and good luck on your MSF course. It'll be fun! And easy! No one fails unless they flat out are a danger to themselves and others lol.

Wet Leather Pants and Harness Boots

Try On First Gear Motorcycle Boots for Size

First Gear motorcycle boots have been designed to provide the rider with peace of mind. Safety equipment is critically important when riding a motorcycle. One slip could spell disaster for the rider. Riders wish to spend time thinking about their skills, not their safety equipment. First Gear has a reputation for designing high quality long lasting motorcycle gear. They do a lot of research and testing on their products.

First Gear motorcycle boots feature leather uppers. The use of leather for the upper portion of motorcycle boots is standard in the industry. The leather provides more protection during a crash than regular boots. It also provides protection from the engine and exhaust. Leather is durable, long lasting, and flexible. These are key attributes to any boots. The closure on the boots is a side zipper. The wearer can further adjust the boot with the hook and loop system. This system will provide a custom fit.

In addition, First Gear Motorcycle boots have additional ankle padding and a toe shifter pad. These features provide additional safety as well as increased functionality. The soles of the boots are skid resistant and have a reflective streak in the middle. This reflective material shows when a rider is on his or her bike. The boots come in either nine inch or twelve-inch upper styles. They cost between one hundred and fifty to two hundred dollars a pair.

First Gear also makes a rubber motorcycle boot. These are one hundred percent seamless rubber boots. They are made to slip over the rider's usual footwear. They are waterproof and slip resistant. They have the advantages of being less expensive, and allowing the rider to avoid wearing hot boots. At less than twenty dollars a pair, they are an attractive alternative to the expensive boots. However, they do not offer any protection against injury.

First Gear makes many other products too. They produce jackets, pants, suits and more. Their boot line is limited to the three styles. They do not make gender specific footwear. However, these boots are designed to be appropriate for either sex and come in a variety of sizes. They are quality mid-priced boots for general riding purposes. The adjustments on the boots allow the wearer to custom fit them. The rubber boots are appropriate for either sex. Therefore, if you are looking for a nice pair of boots, try on First Gear motorcycle boots for size.
