Do U remember when Rainbow bright wasn't considered "gay", she was just cool?.....Before there was pokemon we had the garbage pail kids?.......Do U remember when girls had land-yards, and had mad designs on their key chains like, the butterfly, the box, the Chinese stair case but only had 1 key on the entire key chain?......We had Click Clacks (which drove my mom insane)? when we used to turn the telephone cords into jump ropes?....Having mad baby powder in your neck for no reason...at all?... Putting cuts in UR eye brows?...Wearing 54 leathers?....Mix matching UR shoe strings or socks?.......1 Lime green 1 Hot Pink.....? Just think about that for a moment...
Do U remember really thinking that Gilligan and em' would get off the island on the next episode? How about Knight rider and wishing that UR moms car did that too? Watching MacGyver while he is using a battery, some gum, and a paper clip to do some crazy stuff?.....Watching Happy days, Lavern and Shirley, Cheers, Alf, The A team,Star search (way better than American Idol by the way...just throwing that out there).... Saved by the bell? (Hello Zack Morris)...............The Wonder Years (what would U do if I sang out of tune?) ........The Thunder Cats?... She-Ra.....?
Do U remember staying up late to watch the Apollo and wishing that the lady in the front row would sit down for at least 1 song so U could see the performance clearly?.....U remember when ......Kid N play had a cartoon? Watching uptown comedy club? In living color?....Punky Brewster?...When soul train was hot?........When MTV only played two black people Prince and Michael Jackson?...Watching ....The box like Play 5-6-1......Then getting hyped up like yes some other person wants to hear my song too when U see 5....6.....8..... damn.....that's not the song!!!!.......I know I'm taking some of ya'll back........
At grandmas house walking into a room with no door except the "bead" door?......Plastic on the couch?....... Don't dare drink the red Kool- aid in the living room.....
Braiding your Cabbage patch dolls hair outside on the bench?...... Watching romper room waiting to hear UR name?......When U didn't really understand the Puff the magic Dragon song lyrics?.....Everybody had a Walkman, tapes...then CDs and was since then replaced by ipods?....
Do U remember when guys used wear 8 ball jackets, Carhartt work jumpers? (All of which was way too big)?.....Ever did dances like the whop, pee wee Herman,the snake, the running man, or the electric slide?.....
Ever remember when it was ok for your neighbors to beat U?................Do U remember when a slice of pizza was $1.25, Subway (tokens in NY) was $1.25 too?....
Actually having to use a pay phone? When the subway tokens were tokens not metro cards?....When 50 cents could get U a candy bar?......Paging somebody with smart beep beeper service?...Then using numbers to enter a message?...When everybody was UR cousin even though they really wasn't?.....When U could trust UR neighbors to look after UR kids?
Rochdale heads can remember when we had the OTB,The Old intercom system inside the apartment in the kitchen?.....Not being able to see who was in UR building (before the cameras were up)?...Using a key to get in the front door not the beam?.....Hopping on the bus to get to the Sandwich Spot on Hollis Ave.?...Using quarters for the laundry mat?....Throwing the key out the window ... to let somebody in the front door? nah...(we still do that now) Getting a hat or shirt spray painted in the coliseum? The photo booth in green acres?.....If U or anybody you know ever got a tattoo at the hut barber shop/tattoo spot?.......Having "brown outs" (for those who don't know that's when Rochdale lights go out)?.....Having lights when everybody else doesn't?......When club Ambiance was called After 5?...then before that it was The Scene?......Not having to cross the street by yourself until UR like 12 (true story I really didn't learn till I was like 12)unless UR going to 1-3-4?....Having timberlands called Beef & Broccoli and Macaroni & Cheese?.....Messing up ur moms credit in the store? (until Papi stopped that a few years back now.... its no cash no groceries).........
Okay, I gotta go now.......I'm about to go show my mom and her friends the new dance that's out.....some things never change....=)
