Ladies 40 plus - do you follow a fashion?
I am wondering if I can still get away with a particular 'look'. I was very much the rock chick in my teenage years, leather jacket, patches etc. Still love heavy rock, but now a mum of two and work in school - can I still mildly go with the look - but how?

I should maybe add that people often put my age as much younger, sometimes I have difficulty buying alcohol to my delight!
Leigh - thanks!, realistically I don't think I can update the old look to be flattering, don't wan't to go all Bonnie Tyler!, I love the goth look - but know I can't really get away with that either...
The great thing about reaching our age is that we no longer have to be slaves to fashion and wearing what everyone else is. You can (should) tone it down to look more age appropriate. Instead of the motorcycle jacket you may have worn in the 80's, try a tailored leather blazer with jeans. Instead of jeans with holes everywhere, try a distressed fabric that's not too "out there". Patches? Sorry-but I can't think of a way to make those look grown up. Hair and earrings updated from 80's styles-there are a million options for you there.
Some things you won't get away with...take a brutally honest friend with when you shop...it doesn't have to be her taste-just make her promise to help you leave with clothes that look classy, rather than outright trashy (which seems to have been the goal with 80's rocker chicks like us)!
